NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — Former madam and candidate for New York City Comptroller Kristin Davis has been arrested on charges of selling prescription pills containing controlled substances, including oxycodone, for cash by the U.S Attorney for the Southern District of New York on Tuesday. The 38-year-old candidate is accused of selling hundreds of prescription pills containing amphetamine, alprazolam, zolpidem, and carisoprodol as recently as April of this year. Davis is charged with four counts of distributing and possessing with intent to distribute a controlled substance with each count carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. The former madam alleges she supplied the former governor and current comptroller candidate Eliot Spitzer with prostitutes while she was running an escort service, which landed her in prison for three months. Davis is expected to appear in Manhattan federal court before a judge on Tuesday afternoon.

US And UK Pull Staff Out Of Yemen Amid Terror Alert – 6 August 2013

The US and UK governments have withdrawn diplomatic staff from Yemen and urged their citizens to leave amid concerns over security threats.

It follows the sudden closure of 20 US embassies and consulates on Sunday.

This was prompted by intercepted conversations between two senior al-Qaeda figures, including top leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, US media said.

(Lucas : In the German tv news  the hype of something is gonna happen was even further pumped by explaining that Ayman al-Zawahiri  already was responsible for bombings with” bombs that could not get detected”. President Robert Mugabe’s government plans to seize control of foreign-owned mines without paying for them as part of a program to accumulate $7 billion of assets following his July 31 election victory, a minister said.

The government will compensate bank owners as it takes control of their companies, Saviour Kasukuwere, the minister in charge of the program to compel foreign companies to cede 51 percent of their assets to black investors or the government, said in an interview in Harare, the capital, today. His comments echo a suggestion made by Mugabe earlier this year.
