TheAustralian – ‘Super Agency’ For Social Services As Coalition Eyes Merger – 13 January 2014

The Australian

By Rick Morton

A SUPER-DEPARTMENT employing one-quarter of the commonwealth bureaucracy and leading social policy from conception to service delivery would be created under plans being considered by the Coalition. Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews has signalled the potential for “substantial” savings from a merger of the departments of Social Services and Human Services, warning bureaucrats that “change is inevitable” when he was asked whether the move would lead to redundancies.

John Ward – Bread & Circuses: Sensational Black And White Games In Mendacium – 13 January 2014

JohnWOpening the mouth and shutting the mind

Fans in the Amphitheatre have been gripped over the last four days by the fight-to-the-death scrap going on between the two most hated adversaries in Mendacium, Plodicum Metropolitanus and Nero Licentiae. The final decision may yet come down to a final thumbs up or down from Emperor Boriscum of Thrace, although he has signalled little beyond a desire to see them beat each other into mutually lifeless pulp. Wes Annac – Death Is The Beginning Of Life – Part 1/4 – 13 January 2014

wes-annac-300x229Written by Wes Annac, the Aquarius Paradigm

Dedicated to Stephanie Sautter – A departed friend who I haven’t really gotten to know yet.

It’s no secret that death is feared and misunderstood. Most people assume that we stop existing and enter an eternal slumber when the body dies, and the idea of ceasing to exist has driven a lot of people to fear death. Continue reading

TSA Expands To Oversee Aircraft Security – 13 January 2014

RT logoThe Transportation Security Administration is expanding its fiefdom once again, this time planning to inspect aircraft repair stations in an attempt to lower the risk of theft and other terrorism-related activity.

The move will cover about 4,100 domestic repair stations and 700 foreign ones, as the agency attempts to satisfy a Congressional order passed about a decade ago. According to the Associated Press, Congress first mandated the TSA to inspect airport repair stations over concern that they made easy targets for terrorists wishing to steal a plane or plant a bomb onboard one.

While the Federal Aviation Administration is already responsible for keeping tabs on repair stations, its primary responsibility is to ensure the conditions and work quality meet US standards. With the TSA now preparing to inspect shops for security, the FAA will be able to continue authorizing new stations, a process that had been halted previously.

States May Bind Together To Fight Federal Gun Laws – 13 January 2014

RT logoLawmakers in Missouri are once again trying to nullify federal gun laws within the Show-Me State, and this time around they hope Second Amendment advocates elsewhere will join in their fight.

The Republican-controlled State Legislature came up one vote shy last year of overriding a veto from Governor Jay Nixon, a democrat, who opposed a conservative-led effort to outlaw the enforcement of federal gun control regulations within Missouri.

Under that bill, police officers caught enforcing federal gun law restrictions within the state would have been subject to criminal and civil penalties. Just months after Gov. Nixon’s veto kept the bill off the books, though, lawmakers are again rehashing their effort to keep federal regulations from interfering with their United States Constitution-protected right to bear arms.

Lisa Gawlas – The New Energy Atmposphere Of Life: Like A Fish Learning To Breathe Air! – 13 January 2014

lisagawlas2Well!!  I guess my New Years wish went down the toilet (in so many ways lol.)  My only wish was that we stop having these biologically unpleasant upgrades/change outs once we hit the new energy world (2014).  Yeah right!  I swear my team decided to play an ongoing “punk” with me, with my poor biology.  The night before last, I woke up at exactly midnight to feel the biggest elephant sitting on my chest.  I couldn’t breathe and my body started the intense, and I do mean intense, coughing process to get the damn elephant off, which only hurt me more as the elephant laughed its ass off.  I finally gave up on any sleep at 6 am and hoped that sitting up instead of desperately trying to find sleep, would be the thing that drops the elephant to the floor.  Not even close!  By my first appointment, I did realize that I pretty much coughed my voice out of my throat, by late afternoon, it was gone, but that pesky elephant, still ever present. UK Pledges $4Mn In Equipment To Speed Up Destruction Of Syria Chemical Arsenal – 13 January 2014

RT logoThe UK has outlined plans to provide Washington with some $4.1mn worth of equipment, which would enable the US to process Syrian chemical weapons, currently in transit from the country, more quickly. A British warship will join the escort protection.

“The US approached the UK to support this primary activity from our domestic industry as they would not have been able to procure the device themselves within the timeframes set,” British Defense Minister Philip Hammond said in a written statement to Parliament on Monday. The British aid will speed up the destruction process.

Foreign Secretary William Hague confirmed that the UK would be assisting the US in a statement made to the House of Commons on Monday, while lauding the effort as a “strong example of international cooperation”.
