Nine Nuclear Base Commanders Fired From US Air Force Over Cheating Scandal – 27 March 2014

RT logoThe United States Air Force says it has taken unprecedented action by firing nine nuclear missile base commanders on Thursday amid an ongoing and exhaustive investigation surrounding allegations of cheating.

Dozens of additional employees described as junior officers at those bases will be disciplined as well, the Associated Press reported first on Thursday afternoon, and will join an ever-expanding list of Air Force personnel who have been reprimanded in recent months as part of an embarrassing scandal that has increasingly generated criticism directed at the Pentagon’s nuke program.

But although the Air Force has taken action already in recent months amid reports that missile base personnel cheated on critical military examinations, the AP says officials describe the latest round of terminations as being “unprecedented in the history of the intercontinental ballistic missile force.”

States Unite To Fight Fracking-Linked Earthquakes – 27 March 2014

RT logoAs concerns over fracking-induced earthquakes mount, regulators from four US states met for the first time in March to discuss limiting the risk posed by the controversial practice.

According to Bloomberg News, officials from Ohio, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas are looking to cooperate on the project. The group reportedly discussed how to strengthen their standards related to fracking, and is working on establishing similar monitoring procedures across the states that would prevent earthquakes from occurring in the future.

“It was a very productive meeting, number one, because it gave the states the opportunity to get together and talk collectively about the public interest and the science,” Gerry Baker, the associate executive director of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, which represents energy states, told Bloomberg. “It was a good start in coordinating efforts.”

Germany Moves To Expel Jobless Immigrants From Other EU Countries – 27 March 2014

RT logoGermany could deport unemployed foreigners if they cannot find a job within three months, even if they are EU citizens, according to a draft proposal being considered by Berlin. Britain may follow suit.

Unemployed immigrants will also have less access to welfare benefits and it will be more difficult for them even to claim benefits in the first place, according to the 133-page report, presented Wednesday. According to the German government, the member states are also “allowed to limit the time that citizens from other EU countries can look for work.”

“This [report] should not be understood as an assault on the freedom of movement, which is one of the fundamental EU rights,” said Steffen Seibert, spokesman for German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Lucas – Interesting: After Nuclear Top In The Netherlands The Netherlands Nuclear Plant Safety Under Discussion – 27 March 2014

Whistleblower Jeroen Ghuijs has given his information as former employee of the nuclear plant at Borselle. He talks about the cracks in the reactor  and also the decay of the concrete that he had identified. This process was already ongoing since the eighties. The license for this plant is  though prolonged. The reactor exceeds its built for lifetime expectancy.  Still the plant was given another 20 years license. In total now this older type reactor will be serving up to  twice the life expectancy. This is very worrisome after all that is happening. Do we need more Fukushima’s in this world. In my view we can do without this power source and very quickly.

The problems of the nuclear plant are now addressed on national tv today after already in Belgium 2 similar nuclear type plants were closed already.

Thanks Jeroen.
