NaturalNews – Jonathan Benson – Glyphosate Found To Accumulate In Animals And Humans, Leading To Chronic Illness – 1 April 2014

Naturalnews-Logo2(NaturalNews) Yet another scientific study has debunked the myth that genetically modified organisms (GMOs) pose no threat whatsoever to animals or humans. A team of researchers from both Germany and Egypt, publishing their findings in the Journal of Environmental & Analytical Toxicology, discovered that animals fed GM feed had much higher levels of glyphosate, the active ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide, in their urine and organs than animals fed non-GM or organic feed. NaturalNews – Jonathn Benson – GMO Cultivation Declining In Developed Nations, Despite Industry Promotion Suggesting The Opposite – 1 April 2014

Naturalnews-Logo2(NaturalNews) For the first time since their initial commercialization in the mid-1990s, genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are on the decline in the industrialized world, says a new report by the pro-biotech lobbying group International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications, or ISAAA.

Despite heavy promotion of the technology by the chemical industry, which has been hiding GMOs in the food supply for nearly 20 years, overall plantings of GM crops have dropped in places like Canada and the U.S. by about 2 percent, according to the report. And the crops hit the largest include both cotton and canola. Continue reading

The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada has adopted a resolution on the immediate disarmament of illegal armed groups. The most notorious is the nationalistic Right Sector, whose members have been involved in the bloodiest turmoil in Ukraine’s recent past.

The vote passed by the parliament on Tuesday allows for the banning of Right Sector if it refuses to give up arms. The decision was supported by 256 MPs, while the minimum needed to legitimate it is 220 votes.

“Considering the extraordinary public and political situation in the country, aggravation of the crime rate and systematical provocations on the part of foreign citizens in the south-east of Ukraine and in Kiev, the Parliament of Ukraine decrees to oblige the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and Security Service of Ukraine to immediately disarm illegal armed formations,” RIA Novosti quoted the Rada resolution.

Heated Issue: Russia To Construct Gas Pipeline To Crimea – 1 April 2014

RT logoRussian gas exporter Gazprom will build a pipeline to supply gas to energy-strapped Crimea, according to the Russian Ministry of Energy.

“Without gas in Crimea there is no possibility for new production, therefore the likelihood of the project is 90 percent,” a senior official at the Ministry of Energy told Vedomosti on Tuesday.

Since the project is in its early stages, the cost is highly speculative, and ranges from $200 million to $1 billion, depending on the route of the pipeline.

The more expensive option is a 10 billion cubic meter capacity pipeline that would run between Russia’s southern Krasnodar region to Sevastopol. The more economic option would start in Anapa, another city in the Krasnodar region on the northern coast of the Black Sea, adding an extra section to the existing South Stream project.
