Teacher Has To Resign After Taking Sick Student To The Hospital And Paying Her Bill – 3 April 2014

A former Red Bank, Tennessee teacher claims she was forced to resign from her position – all for taking a sick student to the doctor and paying the bill.

According to local WDEF News, 43-year-old Jennifer Mitts is an award-winning teacher who worked at Red Bank High School for eight years before the latest incident took place. She said he took a 20-year-old student to an emergency room for treatment related to a lung infection.

Mitts acknowledged she’d been warned before not to take students off school grounds, but thought this case would be different, since the student in question – a native of another country who had no parents in the United States – was legally an adult.

‘Ring Of Fire’ Fears Renewed Following Earthquakes In California, Chile And Panama – 3 April 2014

A rash of earthquakes within the last week along a section of the Earth infamous for seismic activity is causing concern that more tremors will soon occur near the ominously named “Ring of Fire.”

Experts don’t think that a series of quakes in recent days are related to one another, but all seem to agree that three major incidents in both North and South America share at least one common bond: each quake and their subsequent aftershocks were located along the circum-Pacific seismic belt, or “Ring of Fire,” where scientists with the United States Geological Survey say 90 percent of the world’s earthquakes occur.

Greek Far-Right Golden Dawn Topples PM Aide Amid Police Crackdown – 3 April 2014

A senior aide to the Greek PM resigned on Wednesday after a leaked video allegedly showed him describing a government conspiracy to clamp down on the far right-wing Golden Dawn party. The leak came as several Golden Dawn MPs were stripped of immunity.

The video showed Takis Baltakos speaking to an off-screen person, who is believed to be Golden Dawn MP, Ilias Kasidiaris, says the Greek Reporter news website.

The senior official said in the video – which was presumably shot last autumn shortly after the arrest and release of Kasidiaris – that Prime Miniser Antonis Samaras was outraged with ministers of justice and police for not pressuring investigators to proceed with the prosecution.

Muslim Brotherhood Strikes Back Against Saudi Link In UK Probe – 3 April 2014

The Muslim Brotherhood urged the UK not to be swayed by “non-democratic” and hostile forces in the Middle East backing the military government in Cairo following Downing Street’s decision to launch a probe into the group over possible extremist links.

In a statement released Wednesday by the Brotherhood’s London press office, the group said it “welcomes all opportunities to engage with Governments in order to bring a better understanding about the aims and methods of the Muslim Brotherhood and how it intends to return Egypt to a democratic and civil society.”

The transnational Islamist movement stressed what it called its longstanding commitment to non-violence following Britain’s decision on Tuesday to open a probe into the group’s activities.
