Putin Calls For End To Kiev’s Military Operation, Postponing Referendum In E. Ukraine – 7 May 2014

RT logoUkrainian right-wing groups are behind the recent events in the country, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, adding that Kiev has not disarmed them. He also called on anti-Kiev protesters to postpone a May 11 federalization referendum.

“Russia believes that the crisis, which originated in Ukraine and is now actively developing in accordance with the worst-case scenario, is to be blamed on those who organized the coup in Kiev on 22-23 February and still do not care to disarm the right-wing and nationalist elements,” the president said.

Direct dialogue between Kiev and anti-government protesters in southeast Ukraine is key to ending the crisis, Putin said.

Lawmaker Calls For CIS Human Rights Court To Try Ukrainian Violators – 7 May 2014

RT logoA senior Russian MP has suggested the Commonwealth of Independent States set up its own Court of Human Rights to investigate the events that led the current Kiev regime taking power and the actions of pro-Maidan radicals against federalization supporters.

MP Leonid Slutskiy of the Liberal-Democratic party caucus said he supported other Russian lawmakers in their intent to present a lawsuit against the Ukrainian authorities to the International Criminal Court in the Hague, but added that the CIS – the Russia-led economic and political bloc uniting many of the former Soviet republics – could set up a criminal court of its own in order to judge on everything that took place in Ukraine from February this year.

Representatives of the so called Kiev authorities who have ordered a punitive operation in Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, and who turn a blind eye at the massacre in Odessa, must be tried and convicted as war criminals. This is a repetition of the WWII tragedies, a second Katyn and a second Auschwitz. Only in the Odessa case this is the extermination of [Ukraine’s] own people,” Slutskiy was quoted as saying by the RIA Novosti news agency.

Lisa Gawlas – The Headwinds Of Change Accelerating And/Or Tweaking Your Life Stream!! – 7 May 2014

lisagawlas2I was kind of surprised yesterday when I heard my team say that thru the night time of May 5th (5-5) a “strong headwind was released.”  I only heard that because of my query of what the hell us up with this day.  I had the hardest time falling asleep on the 5th, woke up with molasses oozing thru my brain and body, feeling life every movement, every thought was a struggle to move thru.  Then I created a little bitch-fest for myself when my first connection arrived and I couldn’t see jack squat.  Hey!!  But what my second reading arrived, I could see just fine… not much, but what I could see was clear as day.  Then my third was, nuttin.  This is when I just got plain ole frustrated and started bitching to anyone listening.  That’s when the clarity of what was happening arrived and I turned from bitching to ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! RT logoThe family of a Texas teenager behind the wheel of a horrific drink-driving crash last year that killed four and injured 12 has settled with one of the victims for more than $2 million, according to the latest court documents.

In a case that grabbed international attention for highlighting the perceived injustices of the US judicial system Ethan Couch’s parents settled with Sergio Molina for more than $1 million in cash, with the remainder of the amount to be deposited in a trust fund, AP reported.

Molina, who has been in the hospital since last year’s accident, was riding in the bed of Couch’s pickup truck on June 15, 2013, when Couch hit a stranded motorist and three people who had stopped to help her. All four were killed.

ZeroHedge – Chinese Vessel Rams Vietnamese Ships Under Air Support; Water Cannon Used – 7 May 2014

ZeroHedgeWith all eyes firmly focused on WWIII in Ukraine (oh, and don’t forget Al Qaeda’s pivot to attacking Saudi Arabia), China – as we noted here – decided now was the appropriate time to send an oil rig into Vietnamese (admittedly uncertain) territorial waters. The Vietnamese are not happy and is blasting China this morning after a Chinese vessel intentionally rammed two of its ships. As Reuters reports, the foreign ministry in Hanoi said the collisions took place on Sunday and caused considerable damage to the Vietnamese ships with six people sustaining minor injuries. Vietnam’s foreign minister noted, “Chinese ships, with air support, sought to intimidate Vietnamese vessels. Water cannon was used,” adding that “Vietnam won’t fire unless China fires first.” China has not yet responded to the Vietnamese allegations of ramming, but did have this to say, “The United States has no right to complain about China’s activities within the scope of its own sovereignty.”

ZeroHedge – Yellen Testifies In Congress – Live Webcast – 7 May 2014

ZeroHedgeIn a few short minutes, Fed Chairmanwoman Janet Yellen will hold the first part of her two-day testimony in Congress before the Joint Economic Committee (followed by testimony before the Senate Budget Committee), in which she will regale members of congress with tales about harsh weather in the first quarter, and who snow managed to subtract over $50 billion from the US economy in Q1. Yellen’s prepared remarks will likely focus on the FOMC’s broader views on the economic outlook, but the Q&A will be equally as important. It is possible she may be asked by Senate Committee members for more clarity on the Fed’s exit strategy and/or its view on the terminal funds rate. It is unlikely that she will say anything too market moving, especially since Goldman has schooled her how to avoid any “firm” calendar commitments of the “6 month” variety.

Logo_activistpost-comSyrian forces have edged closer to restoring order across the pivotal Syrian city of Homs in recent weeks, in tandem with other major gains being made across the rest of Syria. ZeroHedge – Putin “Talks” Spark Another De-Escalation-Fueled Hope Bounce In Stocks – 7 May 2014

ZeroHedgeForget POMO, today’s market is all about FOMO – fear of missing out – when Ukraine is ‘fixed’ and new newer-er highs are achieved. All it took this morning to lift S&P futures 8 points was a headline that:

  • PUTIN, OSCE HEAD BURKHALTER TO DISCUSS UKRAINE CRISIS

USDJPY responded instantly, as did bond yields (higher) and gold (lower) as it’s clear that everything will be fixed now. Of course, the Geneva “de-escalation” lasted 1 days; this latest “diplomacy” should last hours if not minutes, but for now the high freaks are delighted and upward momentum has been restored.
