Shooting was heard in the afternoon on Wednesday in the center of Donetsk, near the local office of the Ukrainian intelligence service. It prompted a warning by the mayor’s office, which urged residents to avoid that area of the city and not to “come close to the windows, step out onto the balconies or go outside,” unless it’s really necessary.

The Donetsk self-defense forces later explained it was their people who were shooting.

Judges Warned Against Foreign Trips Over US extradition Fears – 28 May 2014

RT logoThe head of the Supreme Court’s legal department is advising all Russian judges and other court workers not to spend their summer vacations in countries that have extradition agreements with the United States.

Aleksandr Gusev wrote an official letter reminding of a warning that was issued by the Foreign Ministry in April this year, the business daily Kommersant reported. The Foreign Ministry document suggests US special services had launched a worldwide “hunt” for Russian citizens.

Without any reason the US administration is refusing to recognize the reunification between Russia and Crimea that fully meets the international legal standards and the UN charter. It tries to make a routine practice out of hunting for Russian citizens in third countries with subsequent extradition and conviction in the USA, usually over dubious charges,” the statement read.

‘US Needs To Be Aware Of China, Russia Trading In Their Own Currencies’ – 28 May 2014

RT logoDownload video (33.18 MB)

There are many emerging markets, and particularly China and Russia, which do not really want to hold many US dollars, consequently they will move away from it in trade deals, the CEO of The Motley Fool Singapore David Kuo told RT.

The biggest energy deal between China and Russia could be the catalyst that dethrones the greenback as the world’s reserve currency. Some economists, commenting on Russia and China’s 400 billion dollar natural gas accord, say that the dollar is becoming rather weak since many countries are likely to prefer trading in their national currencies.

RT: How could Russia and China trading in their own currencies threaten the dollar?

Uninhabited or unusable properties make up one in five of all the city’s properties.

“Detroit will need as much as $850 million just to address neighborhood blight in the next few years. Addressing the larger-scale commercial sites across the city could add an additional $500 million to $1 billion because of their much larger size and their potential for greater environmental issues,” stated a new report from the city’s Blight Removal Task Force.

The African country of Nigeria supplies nearly 3% of the world’s oil, and is currently the top producer in Africa. Despite the country’s vast natural wealth and exports, the average person in Nigeria does not live so well.

According to the CIA World Factbook, the average life expectancy is only 52.6 years. Only 61.3% of the population is literate. 29% of Nigerians between the age of 5 and 14 are child laborers.

The government of Nigeria has long been a tool of European and US corporations. In 2013, the Nigerian regime received $652 million in US foreign aid. Protests were launched all over the world, when Ken Saro Wiwa, an environmental activist, was executed by a military tribunal in 1995. The execution was blatantly done on behalf of Shell Oil, so much so that in 2009 $15.5 million was paid to the families of Wiwa and Shell’s other victims in order to prevent a trial in a United States District Court.
