UN Was Right To Speak Out On The Gaza Crisis, Says UK Prime Minister – 4 August 2014

RT logoDavid Cameron has endorsed the United Nation’s recent criticism of an IDF attack on a UN-run school in Gaza, which culminated in ten casualties. UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, condemned the assault as a “moral outrage” and “criminal act”.

Cameron failed to indicate if he wholly agreed with Ban Ki-moon’s condemnation of Israel’s recent strike, however, merely emphasizing that the event had brought about“an appalling loss of life,”and civilians should not be targets.

Reflecting on the IDF’s destruction of the school, the PM defended the UK government’s position on the Gaza crisis, stating the coalition had clearly called for “an immediate, comprehensive, humanitarian ceasefire.”

UK’s ‘Warrior Generation’ Could Be Sent Back To Afghanistan – Army Chief – 4 August 2014

RT logoBritain’s war in Afghanistan has given rise to a “warrior generation” ready for deployment to other global conflict zones, according to the head of the British Army.

As the UK marks the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War on Monday, General Sir Peter Wall told the Telegraph that British troops had developed skills from its decade of combat in Iraq and Afghanistan needed to provide national security in the future.

“We can be confident we have a ‘warrior generation’ who have the skill and fighting ability to play their role in the nation’s defence and its security interests,” he said.

Switzerland Will Not Blindly Follow EU Sanctions Against Russia – Swiss Economy Minister – 4 August 2014

RT logoFor Switzerland to copy and paste EU sanctions against Moscow is unwise, and would jeopardize the country’s role as a mediator, said Swiss Economy Minister Johann Schneider-Ammann.

The Swiss government has no plans to follow in the EU’s footsteps and impose sanctions against Russia, Schneider-Ammann said in an interview with the Swiss newspaper Schweiz am Sonntag.

Schneider-Ammann said that choosing a side would undermine the country’s neutrality in the matter.

McDonald’s Back To Normal In China After Changing Food Suppliers – 4 August 2014

RT logoSome of McDonald’s restaurants in China are resuming selling pork, beef and chicken burgers, less than two weeks after the world’s biggest fast-food chain restricted its menu following a scandal involving rotten meat from a supplier.

People in Beijing, Guangzhou and some other cities will have the complete menu later this week as Bloomberg cites a statement from McDonald’s.
