Bio-Shambles: Over 1,100 pathogen Leaks In US Labs In 5 Years – CDC Report – 18 August 2014

US labs mishandled dangerous biomaterials at least 1,100 times between 2008 and 2012, according to hard-to-access statistics collated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and obtained by USA Today.

The data, which is for the latest year available, was presented to Congress last month following an uproar over the exposure of more than 60 CDC staff to live deadly anthrax bacteria in a top Atlanta lab in June, and received by the US newspaper following a direct legal request. The hearings provoked the resignation of lab chief Michael Farrell, but the statistics covering about 1,400 licensed facilities handling dangerous materials show that the failures are systemic.

“More than 200 incidents of loss or release of bioweapons agents from US laboratories are reported each year. This works out to more than four per week,” Richard Ebright, a leading biosafety expert at Rutgers University, who testified before Congress, told USA Today.

Thousands of people gathered in Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square over the weekend to encourage an end to hostilities through peace negotiations between Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the Palestinian unity government.

The protest’s organizers said that the turnout Saturday night was as high as 10,000 people, while Israeli media said that just “thousands” were involved in the protest, the Jerusalem Post reported.

Participants rallied under the slogan: “Changing direction: toward peace, away from war.”

Several protesters were chanting, “Bibi go home,” according to JPost.

The former CEO of a red light camera vendor and a former Chicago official were indicted last week on federal corruption charges for a decade-long bribery scam during which the city became a poster child for the surveillance cameras in the US.

The indictment unsealed last Wednesday names former Redflex chief executive officer Karen Finley and John Bills, former deputy commissioner for the Chicago Department of Transportation, as well as Bills’ friend and Redflex contractor Martin O’Malley, as part of the scheme that saw the better part of $2 million funneled to Bills after the Chicago official worked with the company to win a lucrative contract for the cameras, which record any vehicle running a red light, in the city. Bills was found to have used the money to purchase the likes of a Mercedes, a boat, a cabin in Michigan and a condominium in Arizona.

During the contractual relationship between Redflex and Chicago, the city’s traffic surveillance program – Digital Automated Red Light Enforcement Program (DARLEP), which ran from October 2003 to February 2013 – generated nearly $500 million in tickets for the city, according to the Chicago Tribune, eventually making DARLEP the largest such system in the nation.

Activists Occupy UK Govt Building Over Heavily-Redacted Fracking Report – 18 August 2014

A group of campaigners from Reclaim the Power are currently occupying the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs’ (DEFRA) headquarters in London, following the government’s decision to censor a report on the potential impacts of fracking.

Three anti-fracking and climate justice activists superglued themselves to DEFRA’s main doors at approximately 8 am this morning, using reinforced arm tubes to prevent access. Another scaled the building and unfurled a large banner inscribed with the message: “What’s to hide DEFRA? – Don’t frack with our future.”

The activists wore black tape pasted across their mouths in an effort to convey the scale of censorship the government had recently employed prior to publishing its report.

From knowledge of One I know that we have to use prisms (special glass that bends Light and makes Rainbow), and not just 1, but many incorporated into 1 solar panel. But this is not possible for now, Humanity don’t have technology that will enable to shrink prisms and make them super small in nanometers within 1 highly dense glass (solar panel), this is giving a lot of energy.
