In a fresh action for accountability from the police force, about 100 youths stormed the St. Louis City Hall with banners demanding a civilian review board for all “police shootings” and to stop supplying the force with heavy military equipment.

Another demand had to do with body cameras, so that each encounter between an officer and a suspect can be recorded for future reference.

These events were set in motion after the shooting death of unarmed teenager Michael Brown on August 9, which were followed by months of rioting.

Ex-PM Tony Blair Possible Terror Target, UK Jury Told – 14 October 2014

RT logo(Lucas: interesting headline, Blair is still not in jail being convicted for war crimes and crimes against humanity in tribunals by the people and  being involved in much more like Bush. Put him in jail and he will serve justice and hopefully not lose his life by the institutionalized bad treatment of private corporate prisons or inmates. Maybe a suite at the London brick.)

Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair and his wife Cherie Booth may have been the target of a terror attack, the jury of a terror trial has heard. The proceedings are being held largely behind closed doors.

The trial, set to be conducted mostly in secret, began at the Old Bailey on Tuesday morning. It is the first case of its kind in UK legal history.

Jury members attending the trial were reportedly told Blair’s address was written on a scrap of paper found in the accused’s car. The paper was located inside a sunglasses case, the jury were informed.

During their search of the accused’s car, police officials made the decision to bug the vehicle according to Sky News.

ZeroHedge – 5 Reasons Oil Prices Are Dropping – 14 October 2014

As oil prices continue to fall, analysts and producers are trying to wrap their heads around the reasons and identify a floor price. Even though crude benchmarks like Brent and WTI keep dropping, the cost of finding oil continues to rise. What are some of the key drivers that have created this paradox?

1. The U.S. Oil Boom
America’s oil boom is well documented. Shale oil production has grown by roughly 4 million barrels per day (mbpd) since 2008. Imports from OPEC have been cut in half and for the first time in 30 years, the U.S. has stopped importing crude from Nigeria.

Rights Activists Seek Tougher Punishment For Bribery – 14 October 2014

RT logoThe leading Russian human rights body wants the maximum prison term for corruption to be more than doubled in a bid to force those convicted to compensate for the damage to the national economy.

The head of the National Anti-Corruption Committee Kirill Kabanov presented his suggestion to Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, during the President’s meeting with the Council for Human Rights. Putin said that he was not opposed to the anti-corruption initiative. The President also promised to order his administration to take part in a major anti-corruption inspection that will be launched all over the country in the nearest future.

Kabanov, who sits in this council, told reporters before the meeting that rights advocates considered the current maximum sentence of eight years too soft.

Such convicts can be released on probation after spending just 4 years behind bars, and they still have billions. Their fortunes ensure that they do time as if they were at a health resort. I know a lot of oligarchs who are like this. We must change this situation with regard to cases where convicts are ready for plea deals,” the activist said.
