Iraq War II: UK To Send New Batch Of Troops To Fight ISIS – 5 November 2014

RT logoAs British troops leave Afghanistan, the UK government is preparing to dispatch army officers back to Iraq. The officers will assist in a US-led effort to train Iraqi security forces in their ongoing battle against Islamic State jihadists.

While the government has not disclosed the number of troops being sent to Baghdad, reports in The Times suggest they will join a US headquarters to train the Iraqi army, while others may be sent to support Kurdish Peshmerga fighters in the north of the country.

It is expected that the government will make a formal announcement regarding the operation later this week.
