jon7Right now, the heart of the ACTUAL American struggle against Monsanto is in Maui.

On Election Day, voters in Maui County passed a local ballot measure blocking Monsanto and Dow from further development of GMOs.

Maui is a very importance piece of Monsanto’s empire. Because of the year-round weather, they can run many, many tests on new GMO crop varieties.

So Monsanto and Dow immediately turned around and sued Maui County.

On top of that, the federal judge in the case is Barry Kurren, who has already sided with Monsanto against Kaui’s attempt to regulate GMOs. Continue reading

‘Totally Innocent’ Unarmed 28Yo Accidentally’ Shot Dead By NYPD Police – 22 November 2014

RT logoA rookie NYPD officer “accidentally” shot and killed an unarmed African-American man in a staircase in a New York apartment block. It happened as Ferguson is tensely waiting for a grand jury decision on a police officer who shot Michael Brown.

Akai Gurley, 28, and his girlfriend Melissa Butler were entering a staircase on the seventh floor in Pink House project in Brooklyn late Thursday evening when two policemen came down from the eighth floor. Peter Liang and his partner, Shaun Landau were doing a top-to-bottom patrol. Liang, a rookie on probationary assignment, fired a shot in Gurley’s chest without a warning, Butler said.

“They didn’t present themselves or nothing and shot him,” Butler told DNAinfo New York. “As soon as he came in, the police opened the [door to the] eighth-floor staircase. They didn’t identify themselves at all. They just shot.”

Gorbachev Proposes New Global Forum To Augment ‘Lame UN’ – 22 November 2014

RT logoFormer Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev says that he’s working on a strategy of stabilizing the international situation by introducing a new effective global dialogue platform to augment the “lame UN.”

“Serious-minded world circles” have asked him to come up with such a platform during the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall earlier in November, said Gorbachev, 83.

“It’s going to be a very big thing. There’ll be first steps and second steps, aimed for it to become a global platform for discussion of problems. It must be very representative, capable of influencing both state and international institutions, authoritative because the UN is, unfortunately, lame at the moment,” Gorbachev said during the Moscow presentation of his new book, “After the Kremlin.”

CIA Wants To Delete Thousands Of Emails As Obama Administration Stalls Release Of Torture Report – 22 November 2014

RT logoThe CIA wants to erase tens of thousands of internal emails sent by most covert and counterterror officers after they leave the agency, leading US senators and transparency advocates to fear the plan would mean the loss of vital government records.

The spy agency’s proposal, first submitted to the National Archives in January but only now revealed to the public, would mean only the emails of 22 top CIA officials would be kept on permanent record. Emails sent by all others, including all covert officers except the director of the National Clandestine Service, would be deleted three years after the employees left the agency “or when no longer needed, whichever is sooner,” according to the plan, as reported by Yahoo News.

The proposal would replace an uneven system that is currently in place in which agency officials are directed to, of their own discretion, “print and preserve” emails that could be considered federal records, which are required by law to be retained.

FEMEN Group Kidnaps ‘Priest’ To Protest Pope’s Visit To EU Parliament – 22 November 2014

RT logoTopless FEMEN activists in France have apparently kidnapped a priest, protesting the upcoming papal EU Parliament visit. Balaclava-wearing, topless activists put a hood over the priest and bundled him into a waiting car. However it could be just a stunt.

A video shows the priest talking – perhaps trapped into a conversation – with a girl wearing a blue hooded coat, as a dark car pulls up and the FEMEN members get out of the vehicle.

They grab the priest’s arms and bundle him into the car, at which point one of the members puts a dark sack over his head. The word ‘FEMEN’ is clearly visible across the girls’ backs as they ‘kidnap’ the priest.

“God is not a magician / Pope is not a politician,” reads a message in the FEMEN video.

The group says that it is defending secularism against the “attacks of the Vatican.”

In a message accompanying the video on Facebook, the group accuses the Vatican and the Pope of the “criminal religious occupation of Europe,” adding that the invitation issued to the Pope by the EU Parliament identifies the organization as an “enemy of secularism and freedom.”
