400 Ferguson Protesters Arrested Across US, Unrest Persists – 27 November 2014

RT logoAt least 400 protesters have been arrested over the past three days across the US, as they rallied against the grand jury decision on the shooting of Mike Brown in Ferguson, and police violence in general.

Some 200 activists were detained in Los Angeles. At 7:30pm local time on Wednesday, police told the demonstrators to leave within four minutes. Those who stayed were taken to police stations, with a possible bail of $500. If the bail isn’t paid, the detainees are to stay in prison until at least December 1.

What Brisbane G20 Summit Showed – 27 November 2014

RT logoPresident Vladimir Putin stressed at the final news conference at the recent G20 summit in Brisbane that “the work took place in a very constructive atmosphere and was productive.”

Important agreements were reached, in particular on increasing by two percent the average rate of growth of the G20 economies by 2018, which should boost the world economy by $2 trillion; decisions were also made on fighting unemployment, improving financial and tax regulations, reforming international energy institutions and improving coordination on infrastructure projects

The Australian presidency focused on promoting private-public partnership. Such partnerships are increasingly common in Russia. The decision to create a global infrastructure hub was significant: it is assumed such a structure will make it possible to share best practice and experiences. Russia, which is already implementing a number of large-scale infrastructure projects, is willing to participate directly in this work.

Thousands of people have taken to the streets of central London in a solidarity march, following a grand jury’s decision in the US city of Ferguson. Unarmed black teen Mike Brown was shot dead in August by a police officer, who was cleared of wrongdoing.The vigil, which included a minute’s silence with lit candles, started as a peaceful march of up to 5,000 people at the US embassy in London on Wednesday.

Drone Near-Misses With Piloted Aircraft Surge In US Airspace – Watchdog – 27 November 2014

Pilots and air-traffic controllers have reported a sharp rise in near-collisions with drones in the past six months, the Washington Post reports, citing Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) records.

Since June 1, drones “came within a few seconds or a few feet of crashing into much larger aircraft” 25 times, FAA records showed. Pilots also reported spotting drones in restricted airspace more than 175 times.

The data was released following numerous public-records requests by the Washington Post and other news organizations.

Pepper Spray, Arrests As Ferguson Protesters Storm St. Louis City Hall – 27 November 2014

RT logoA crowd of protesters stormed St. Louis City Hall on Wednesday, forcing the building into lockdown and adding to rising tensions in the wake of the Ferguson grand jury decision. Three people were arrested and pepper spray was deployed.

The attempt to enter City Hall was made by at least a dozen demonstrators, many of whom screamed “Shame, shame” as they tried to make it past security. The ensuing scuffle resulted in police calling more than 100 extra officers to the scene, according to the Associated Press.
