ZeroHedge – Dear Jamie Dimon: This Is Why US Banks Are “Under Assault” – 14 January 2015

ZeroHedgeEarlier today, during the JPM conference call, when Jamie Dimon wasn’t busy explaining why the Q4 earnings presentation was sorely missing the page showing JPM’s latest Net Interest Margin, a staple placeholder page in the presentation appendix, he found time to lament something totally different. As Bloomberg reports, Dimon lashed out at U.S. regulators for putting his bank “under assault.”

Gazprom Announces Final Nail In The South Stream Coffin – 14 January 2015

RT logoEurope will have to get gas via Turkey or Ukraine, there will be no direct transcontinental pipeline to Europe, Gazprom has confirmed. It is disappointing news for Bulgaria, which was hoping to get gas directly from Russia, and not via Ukraine.

Gazprom CEO Aleksey Miller made it clear that Turkey, and not Bulgaria, will become the main gas valve between Russia and Europe.

“South Stream is dead. For Europe there will be no other gas transit options to risky Ukraine other than the new ‘Turkish Stream’ pipeline,” Miller said Wednesday, as reported by RIA Novosti.

RT logoFemale asylum seekers held at the UK’s Yarl’s Wood detention center are routinely degraded by male staff who monitor them while they are naked, using the toilet and showering, a refugee charity says. Allegations of sexual molestation have also been made.

A damning report, conducted by Women for Refugee Women, found that female immigrants in the detention center are often denied privacy and dignity. The research also uncovered claims of sexual misconduct carried out by staff.

The study, entitled “I am Human,” was published Wednesday. It examined the experience of 38 female asylum seekers who entered Britain and were detained in Yarl’s Wood between June 2012 and October 2014.

John Ward – Gender Violence : Why The New ‘Campus Abuse’ Study From The Telegraph Is Utter Nonsense – 14 January 2015

youthsightPurely on the basis of one flawed study, gender activists are out to sexually police every campus in the Land

There is yet another disturbing Feminazi piece in the Daily Telegraph today, the contents of which are hard to read without simply shambling off to the pub in order to forget everything.

As usual when such tripe is put out, there is no comment thread, and no access given to the original tabulations: discourage criticism, that’s the way to do it, Punch! But we can discern more than enough from what passes for an interpretation of the results to make those of us still sound in mind have doubts about it. Continue reading

Islamic Human Rights Commission Cuts Ties With ‘Orwellian’ British Govt – 14 January 2015

RT logoOne of the UK’s biggest Islamic organizations has refused to participate in future government talks on anti-terror legislation, claiming their contributions to policy are being overlooked.

The Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC), which describes itself as an “independent, non-profit campaign, research and advocacy organization,” said the British government has been “uncompromising” in its efforts to “legislate away fundamental freedoms in order to tackle terrorism over the last 18 years.”

In a statement released late Tuesday, an IHRC spokesperson said: “Such input perversely allows the government to claim that it has carefully considered the views of civil society organizations, when in fact the final policies were always a foregone conclusion.”

ActivistPost – What Will You Do When Government Tyranny And Terrorism Work Hand In Hand? – 14 January 2015

Activist Post

I was in the middle of working on an article covering real U.S. economic stats versus manipulated statistics when the Charlie Hebdo shootings took place. And though I knew the implications of the event would be far-reaching, I was originally undeterred from my financial subject matter. I had already covered in previous articles the inevitability of ISIS attacks on Europe and America, including the “warnings” of Saudi Arabia in August of last year that jihadists would target the EU within months and the U.S. a month later.

US Increases Ukraine Support To $2Bn – 14 January 2015

RT logoThe US Treasury has pledged an additional $1 billion in loan guarantee to Kiev bringing its total support to $2 billion, on condition Ukraine sticks to its reform agenda. The move follows the EU’s offer of another $2.1 billion to Kiev last week.

US Vice President Joe Biden told Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yatsenyuk about the US administration’s offer during a phone conversation on Tuesday.

The US first extended a helping hand to Ukraine in May 2014, when it authorized $1 billion in loan guarantees, as well as $340 million in loan assistance. This money is due to arrive in the first sixth months of 2015. The new guarantee of $1 billion will be dispersed by the end of the year.

The latest loan guarantee will be “part of the international effort” to help rebuild Ukraine’s ailing economy, which has entered recession and is at risk of default. The government’s 2015 budget envisions a 4.3 percent contraction in GDP.
