Which I would imagine they would, it’s the best thing they can possibly do – to get out of it. If they seem to do well it is going to have a domino effect right across southern Europe and probably the rest of Europe as well. So they [EU] are desperately, desperately keen to keep the Greeks in and do whatever they can because, because that is how they get their salaries, by keeping the European Union rolling.

Detained For Complaining? Traveler Held For 20 Hours By TSA – 6 February 2015

A traveler is suing the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for placing him in a holding cell for nearly a day, after officials searched his carry-on bag and accused him of making terrorist threats.

The lawsuit, among other claims, alleges that the TSA supervisor was lying.

Philadelphia resident Roger Vanderklok filed his federal complaint on Wednesday against the TSA, the Philadelphia Police Department and Department of Homeland Security, reported the Philadelphia Daily News. In the complaint, he claimed his civil liberties were violated during an incident at the Philadelphia International Airport on January 26, 2013.

Hollande, Merkel Go To Moscow |To discuss Ukraine Without Consulting US – Report – 6 February 2015

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande did not consult Washington before deciding to visit Moscow to hold talks on the Ukrainian crisis, a source in the French government told AP.

The two leaders, who are part of the so-called ‘Normandy Four’ group along with Moscow and Kiev, decided on a trip on Wednesday night, an unnamed French government official said. Merkel and Hollande are due to arrive to the Russian capital on Friday, the next day after visiting Kiev.

“Together with Angela Merkel we have decided to take a new initiative,” Hollande told a news conference on Thursday.

No More Vaccination Waivers – California Lawmakers – 6 February 2015

New legislation proposed in the California Senate would outlaw waivers that allow parents to exempt their children from receiving basic vaccinations for religious or personal reasons. The bill is a response to the latest measles outbreak in the state.

The bill, announced Wednesday, would require all children to receive vaccinations prior to attending public school in the state. The proposal allows for exemptions only in cases where a preexisting medical condition would prevent a vaccination. Schools, meanwhile, would have to make their vaccination rates public.

So far this year, at least 102 people across 14 different US states have contracted measles and are considered extremely contagious, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Most of the cases this year are linked to several dozen non-vaccinated people exposed to measlesat Disneylandin Anaheim, California.

Monsanto’s Roundup Ready system – a potent herbicide combined with genetically-modified seeds that can withstand it – has decimated the monarch butterfly’s only source of food in the Midwest, putting it on the edge of extinction, according to a new study.

Biotechnology conglomerate Monsanto’s glyphosate-based Roundup has become the most common herbicide in American agriculture today, used in tandem with the company’s genetically-engineered Roundup Ready crops.

Since its heavy proliferation began in the 1990s, glyphosate has been a leading killer of 99 percent of milkweed in the Midwest’s corn and soybean fields. Glyphosate-sensitive milkweed plants are the only spots where monarchs lay eggs, as the plant is the only food source for monarch larvae.
