ZeroHedge – Caught On Tape: State Department’s Psaki Smirks About US Policy Supporting Coups – 17 March 2015

In case you weren’t aware, Venezuelan authorities recently accused the U.S. of attempts to overthrow its government. In a press conference, U.S. State Department spokeswoman, Jen Psaki, vehemently denied such claims and then went ahead and spouted talking points so ridiculous, only a complete ignoramus could believe them. She said:

As a matter of long-standing policy, the United States does not support political transitions by non-constitutional means.

ZeroHedge – California Is Turning Back Into A Desert And There Are No Contingency Plans – 17 March 2015

ZeroHedgeSubmitted by Michael Snyder via The Economic Collapse blog,

Once upon a time, much of the state of California was a barren desert.  And now, thanks to the worst drought in modern American history, much of the state is turning back into one.  Scientists tell us that the 20th century was the wettest century that the state of California had seen in 1000 years.  But now weather patterns are reverting back to historical norms, and California is rapidly running out of water.  It is being reported that the state only has approximately a one year supply of water left in the reservoirs, and when the water is all gone there are no contingency plans.  Back in early 2014, California Governor Jerry Brown declared a drought emergency for the entire state, but since that time water usage has only dropped by 9 percent.  That is not nearly enough.  The state of California has been losing more than 12 million acre-feet of total water a year since 2011, and we are quickly heading toward an extremely painful water crisis unlike anything that any of us have ever seen before.

ZeroHedge – What Saudi Arabia Told The Bank Of England About Why Oil Crashed And Where It Is Headed Next – 17 March 2015

ZeroHedgePrepared remarks as delivered Dr Ibrahim Al-Muhanna, Advisor to the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources for Saudi Arabia, at the March 15 Institute of International Finance Spring Membership Meeting.

The Global Energy Outlook

Ladies and gentlemen.

It is good to be back with you in Doha. Thank you for inviting me to speak about the international oil market. As you all know, the oil market keeps changing, the price fluctuates and supply and demand are constantly shifting. Most of the time, the change in the oil price is small, other times it is large. During the past 40 years, the oil price has sharply risen or fallen at least 12 times, half of which was due to reasons such as politics, war, natural disasters or sanctions. The other half were due to market forces, which includes oil producer policy, such as production cuts or increases, strong economic growth or slowdown, or due to various financial crises.

Steve Lendman – Does Obama Plan Cuba-Style Blockade on Venezuela? – 17 March 2015

StevelendmanDoes Obama Plan Cuba-Style Blockade on Venezuela?
by Stephen Lendman
Expect virtually anything from lunatics infesting Washington. Neocons dominate US policy.
Permanent wars rage against one country after another. US streets are battlegrounds. Virtually every day killer cops murder black youths with impunity.
Independent governments are targeted for regime change. Bush and Obama spent post-9/11 years unsuccessfully trying to end Venezuelan Bolivarian democracy.

ZeroHedgeBack on October 28, 2009, then White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said the following:

… understanding what this President has done is institute the very toughest ethics and transparency rules of any administration in history…  I think the President has returned to a stance of transparency and ethics that hasn’t been matched by any other White House.
