RT logoMasai people living in northern Tanzania are facing eviction from their historical homeland, as the government has reportedly reneged on a promise and is proceeding with plans to remake the land into a hunting reserve for Dubai’s royal family.

There are about 40,000 Masai people living on the 1,500 square kilometer “wildlife corridor” bordering Serengeti National Park. They are known for their semi-nomadic ways and have their own distinctive culture.

The original proposal by a company based in the United Arab Emirates to turn the land into a commercial hunting park was turned down last year.

An Israeli tech startup has opened a campaign on crowdfunding site Indigogo asking to help launch a voice-activated, head-controlled smartphone set. The invention will allow those who have no use of hands to control touchscreen devices.

“Smartphones bring the world to us. But for people with disabilities, current smartphone technology falls short,” says a statement from the makers of ‘Sesame,’ named after the phrase that magically opened the treasure cave in the fairy tale Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.

The technology uses a voice command to activate the program, and a front facing camera to detect the head movements of users, which it turns into cursor movements on the screen of the phone. It currently works only with Samsung Nexus phones.

US scientists have created a home device that replicates hundreds of complex and expensive lab tests by analyzing just one drop of blood. The constant monitoring offered by the device – which needs little training to use – could save millions of lives.

“There are two billion people on Earth who have no access to ready medical care. We set out to fix that – by developing a device that allows you to diagnose yourself no matter where you are,” said Eugene Chan, who leads the team at DNA Medical Institute, which has received grants from NASA and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Suzanne Lie – Checking In – Part 2 – 17 November 2013

SuzanneLieTime to check in again to determine how we are transmuted and how we are the same. Of course, one does not need to do that, but since much of our reality is shifting into a higher frequency along with us, we may feel like nothing is different. Therefore, a comparison offers validation of our shift. Also, as we come to the close of yet another year, it is a natural time to reflect on how our life has changed. Continue reading
