Activist Post

Taxpayers pumped over $200 billion in to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac after the financial collapse of 2008. While the Obama Government used taxpayer subsidized loans to move large quantities of foreclosed housing inventory from the FNM/FRE and into big investment funds, FNM/FRE were busy ballooning their mortgage holdings – again.

ZeroHedge – Pushing On A String: The Fed’s Spectacular Failure To Stimulate Housing – 19 March 2015

ZeroHedgeSubmitted by David Stockman via Contra Corner blog,

The “incoming data” was disappointing again yesterday – this time the culprit was housing starts which were off by 17% from January. But please don’t blame the “weather” again.

The data below is for single family starts which are less volatile than apartment construction. At an annual rate of 593k units in February they were almost exactly flat with last February at 589k. If memory serves, the second month of 2014 was the epicenter of last year’s famous Polar Vortex—–meaning that winters happen but this year’s tepid results cannot be blamed on a winter that was not as bad as the real bad one.

Jon Rappoport – Unanswered Questions For Ex-CIA Officer Edward Snowden – 19 March 2015

jon7Now that the documentary, Citizen Four, has been released, and now that it has won an Oscar, it’s time to revisit unanswered questions, which I raised soon after Snowden’s identity was revealed to the world. (Spygate archive here)

This is not an article about the value of the documents Edward Snowden took from the NSA. I leave those judgments to others.

This article is about Snowden himself and his back-story.

So far, I see no reporter who has directly asked Snowden even faintly challenging questions about his background. Continue reading

Normally reliable sources close to senior British military have put Conservative Culture Media and Sport Minister Sajid Javid MP in the spotlight following his recent talk at the Naval Club London. Addressing a mixed audience, Javid allegedly stated that Britain’s defence forces were doing well – a decidedly upbeat propaganda opening that drew increasing suspicion as he then seamlessly moved to promoting matters EU. Those present took Javid’s EU comments to suggest that British defence cuts were needed to effectively balance EU force levels, thereby facilitating seamless British integration into the EU military structure. His unsettled audience quickly showed him the door. Continue reading

Army Starts Destroying Largest US Stockpile Of Chemical Weapons – 19 March 2015

RT logoThe process of destroying America’s largest remaining stockpile of chemical weapons began on Wednesday in Colorado, more than a decade after the Defense Department approved the destruction of 780,000 shells containing 2,600 tons of mustard agent.

It will take four years to destroy the inventory leftover from World War II at Pueblo Chemical Depot in southern Colorado. The work is being scheduled under the 1997 international treaty banning all chemical weapons, and the material will be moved from a storage bunker to an airtight structure. Depot spokesman Thomas Schultz told AP that “managers don’t want to expose crews or the containers to storms.”

“Everybody’s really excited, but we’re being cautious, making sure all the procedures are followed exactly,” added Bruce Huenefeld, who is managing the first stage of weapon destruction.

6 Ways US Gov’t Is Breaking Own Censorship Record – 19 March 2015

RT logoThe Obama administration claimed an unmatched commitment to government transparency this week, even as it denied or delayed more requests for public information than ever, and claimed exemption from freedom of information laws.

After announcing that its Office of Administration would no longer be subject to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) on the National Freedom of Information Day, the White House released a report on FOIA requests in 2014.

“We actually do have a lot to brag about,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest said about the report, which claimed success in quenching the public’s thirst for government transparency. It was released during Sunshine Week, a mid-March US tradition for the past decade. Actual facts and figures in the report, however, paint a very different picture.

Spread Of Antibiotic-Resistant Infections Linked To…Corruption – 19 March 2015

RT logoAustralian researchers have found out that the rise in antibiotic-resistant infections – one of the greatest threats to the modern medicine – correlates to poor governance and corruption around the world.

Scientists at the Australian National University (ANU) have thoroughly studied deaths from antibiotic-resistant bacteria across the world along with national political and economic situations – and have found out that their levels do not necessarily depend on the state’s wealth or prosperity. They published the results of their research in the journal PLOS ONE on Wednesday.

“We found poor governance and higher levels of corruption are associated with higher levels of antibiotic resistance,” lead researcher Peter Collignon said in a statement. “It is a finding that will be surprising to most people in the field of medicine.”
