Ukraine And Russia Agree On $385 Gas Price For Winter – 20 October 2014

RT logoMoscow and Kiev have confirmed the price of Russian gas to Ukraine until the end of March at $385 per 1,000 cubic meters, according to both Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

“We have agreed on a price for the next 5 months, and Ukraine will be able to buy as much gas as it needs, and Gazprom is ready to be flexible on the terms,” Lavrov said Monday at a public lecture.

Russia’s foreign minister dispelled rumors of two separate prices, one for winter and one for summer.

“At the Europe-Asia summit in Milan, there was no talk of summer or winter gas prices, but just about the next 5 months,” the foreign minister said.

Included in the $385 price is a $100 discount by Russia. Ukraine is still insisting on a further discount, asking for $325 for ‘summer prices’ after the 5-month winter period.

Russian Scientists Working On Fast-Ating Ebola Vaccine – 20 October 2014

RT logoRussian scientists are developing a technology to make monoclonal antibodies specific to the Ebola virus. If successful, the resulting medicine could be available as soon as December. Testing points to a positive effect within 24 hours of administering.

Mikrogen – one of the Russian leaders in the market for alternatives to antibiotics first had the idea. The company partnered up with the health ministry in Ufa, in Russia’s Republic of Bashkortostan, to develop “a system for rapidly diagnosing the virus in human fluids and in the environment.”

If trials are successful, the company plans to use the lessons to develop medication based off of custom-made recombinant antibodies. They say it would have almost immediate effect on the condition of the patient and that given the green light the treatment could be ready for mass production within two months.

MasterCard, Zwipe Team Up For World’s First Contactless Credit Card – 20 October 2014

RT logoRemembering a PIN code may become a thing of the past for credit card holders. MasterCard along with biometrics company Zwipe say that in 2015 they will offer the world’s first credit card which uses fingerprints to confirm payment.

“Our challenge is to ensure the technology offers robust security, simplicity of use and convenience for the customer,” Ajay Bhalla, President of Enterprise Security Solutions at MasterCard said in apress release published Friday.

The new generation cards will include a biometric sensor, the cardholder’s fingerprint data and MasterCard’s contactless application. The card is activated by pressing the holder’s thumb against the scanner. With the card’s fingerprint scanner, the sensor identifies a user’s fingerprint in a second comparing it with data stored in the card’s memory. This procedure makes contactless payment simple, secure and quick.

‘Uncertainty Shock’: Hung Parliament And EU Referendum Threaten UK Economy – 20 October 2014

RT logoInvestors are concerned about the future stability of Britain’s business environment, warning of a “huge uncertainty shock” if the UK leaves the European Union, or ends up with another coalition government after next year’s general election.

In a new report published on Monday, the EY ‘ITEM Club’ predicts that growth investment in the UK will fall from 9 percent to 5.8 percent, while GDP growth will fall from 3.1 percent to 2.4 percent.

The figures reflect leading business figures’ concerns over the UK’s financial security, particularly as no major political party has made their position clear on Europe and a referendum.

The report also said “constitutional reforms in the UK” and the likelihood of another ‘hung parliament’ – where no party secures an overall majority in an election – would make it difficult for investors to forecast the future of the British economy.

If you ever deviate from your life plan in favor of materiality or make choices that aren’t in the best interest of your growing perception of spirit, it helps to remember that you’re doing your best.

You exist on a planet where humans have been taught to believe material things and the luster that comes with them grant eternal happiness, but in reality, this happiness is only temporary and the materiality that drives it will away seek satisfaction; feeding; stimulation. Continue reading

UK To Import Tunisian Sunshine In Solar Project – 20 October 2014

RT logoA new solar energy project seeks to bring Tunisian sunshine to the UK. TuNur is looking for UK government funding for its bright idea, which aims to power 2.5 million British homes with North African rays by 2018.

TuNur, which intends to import two gigawatts of solar energy generated in North Africa into British homes, has reportedly already spent 10 million euros developing a site in southern Tunisia.

“This is not a back-of-the-envelope fantasy,” TuNur’s Chief Executive, Kevin Sara, told BBC News.

“We are working with some of the largest engineering firms in the world. This is a serious project. Yes, it is risky like any big energy project is risky. But there is nothing new about moving energy from North Africa to Europe.”

US-Russian Telations ‘Close To Bottom, To Remain Low A Long Time’ – Lavrov – 20 October 2014

RT logoMoscow does not expect its relations with Washington to get better anytime soon, but on the other hand they won’t plunge any deeper, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov believes.

“We have gone down pretty deep. I really hope this downward movement of the level of our cooperation has reached some kind of a bottom,” he said on Monday in Moscow in an open lecture on Russia’s foreign relations.

Lavrov said the cold does not amount to a new Cold War, but the period is likely to be a long one.

“Of course it’s not a Cold War. The right question is: where do these relations go now?” he said. “Let’s leave it to historians. Certainly someone sometime will describe this period for the textbooks with a colorful term.”
