Steve Lendman – Firestorm Over Steven Salaita’s Sacking – 20 September 2014

StevelendmanCriticizing Israel publicly entails huge risks. Becoming persona non grata in politics, the media, business and academia may follow. It’s a career ender for most who try.
At most, short-term protests follow. They’re usually or entirely local. Salaita’s University of Illinois at Urban-Champaign (ULUC) sacking elevated public anger to a new level.
Thousands of scholars, students, colleagues, friends, Israeli critics and others rallied to his defense. They’re steadfast. They continue.
They want Salaita reinstated. They want him given full pay and benefits. They want damages paid for all he endured. He deserves it and much more.

John Ward – McMurdoch & McTwins Independence Casts Doubt On Scottish Indyref Result – 20 September 2014

JohnWFat old unelected tax evading media yobs given independence, but with no vote

This week – according to odd twins who aspire to rule the United Kingdom from a rock outcrop in the English Channel  –  was “historic” for the UK, in that “once and for all” the Scots (without any of the rest of us being asked) voted No in the Great “Shall I Stay or shall I Go?” shambles. The Barclay Twins – who, along with their equally arrogant son, speak through ever-willing priests here in the physical realm at the Daily Telegraph – offered fulsome gratitude to those clear-thinking Scots who voted “overwhelmingly” to stay as part of their UK….a UK to which the Terrible Twins owe everything, but give nothing – apart from their bird-brained views. 500,000 People Ill With Mosquito-Borne Virus In Dominican Republic – 20 September 2014

RT logoThe mosquito virus chikungunya has left almost 500,000 people ill, and 109 of them are newborn babies, according to an official in the Dominican Republic hit by the disease.

The newborns contracted the illness from their mothers, who were ill while giving birth, Carmen Adames, the Health Ministry’s coordinator dealing with the outbreak, told AP. None of the children have died, she added.

The symptoms of the disease take three to seven days to appear, and include high fever, severe headaches and joint pain that can render a person virtually immobile for months. Research in the Indian Ocean islands has demonstrated that patients can suffer joint pains for as long as two years, depending on their age.

Ann Albers – Messages From Ann And The Angels – 20 September 2014

My dear friends, we love you so very much,

When you have a desire or a dream, you enter into a dance with God and the entire universe. You begin to put out an energy that says, “I love this dream. I want this dream to come true.” To the degree that you love it and allow yourself to be excited by the prospect, the signal you send out to the universe is strong. Fear weakens the signal. Doubt weakens the signal. A commitment to have what you want, even when you have no clue how to make it happen, strengthens the signal. Focused love is a powerful force! Continue reading

Emergency Lockdown In Sierra Leone: 6Mn Confined To Homes In Bid To Contain Ebola – 20 September 2014

RT logoAll Sierra Leone’s six-million population have been confined to their homes. The three-day shutdown is a desperate bid to fight the outbreak, as US health officials warn the disease could spread to over half a million people.

“Today the life of every one is at stake, but we will get over this difficulty if all do what we have been asked to do,” President Ernest Bai Koroma said in a national address on Thursday, a day before the shutdown was due to come into force.

People were in a hurry ahead of the edict to buy food. Shopkeepers were distraught at the prospect of losing three days’ worth of income, given that much of the country’s population, including the capital Freetown, live on as little as $2 a day or less. Each day is a struggle.
