Spiritualism’s a religion that thrived in the late 1800s and early to mid-1900s, and it’s commonly associated with mediums and channeling. UN Predictions Fall Short: Gaza Uninhabitable Today – 21 December 2014

Five months ago the world watched in horror as the bully of the Middle East, Israel, launched the most brutal massacre on the Palestinians of Gaza since the Nakba (perhaps more brutal, Palestinian friends in Gaza have said).

Lasting over twice as long as the 2008-09 war on Gaza (formerly the most-brutal massacre since the Nakba), and killing over 800 more Palestinians than in the attack six years ago, the July-August 51-day offensive killed 2,131 Palestinians and injured over 11,000, and destroyed tens of thousands of homes, buildings, businesses, hospitals, Gaza’s only power plant and other key components of Gaza’s infrastructure.

Palestinian and foreign activists and journalists within the 40 kilometer-long strip of open-air prison tweeted and live-streamed images more horrific than the best Hollywood productions. Weathered journalists broke down sobbing at the sight of Palestinian civilians, especially children being targeted like prey by one of the world’s most wickedly powerful armies and navies. Doctors who have seen the mutilated corpses and scarcely-living bodies of Palestinian elderly, men, women and children many times before were yet still appalled by the brutality of these latest attacks.

Leaked CIA Docs Teach Operatives How To Infiltrate EU – 21 December 2014

Wikileaks has released two classified documents instructing CIA operatives how best to circumvent global security systems in international airports, including those of the EU, while on undercover missions.

The first of the documents, dated September 2011, advises undercover operatives how to act during a secondary airport screening. Secondary screenings pose a risk to an agent’s cover by focusing “significant scrutiny” on an operative via thorough searches and detailed questioning.

The manual stresses the importance of having a “consistent, well-rehearsed, and plausible cover,” in addition to cultivating a fake online presence to throw interrogators off track.

Meanwhile, the second document, dated January 2012, presents a detailed overview of EU Schengen Border Control procedures.

Jailed UK Army Veterans To Be Provided Special Support – 21 December 2014

The British Ministry of Justice has announced that from January, all new inmates at UK prisons will be asked if they served in the army – to help provide special support and rehabilitation for them.

Thus, the veterans would be identified as early as possible, and prison facilities will get guidance on how to help the ex-army servicemen.

Former army service members leaving prison will also be assessed to see if they have mental health issues, including depression, which need to be dealt with, while their families will also be offered support, according to the plan.

It comes after a report by Conservative MP and QC Stephen Phillips, which was commissioned by Chris Grayling, the Justice Secretary, and included in the Government’s Armed Forces Covenant.

Police Officer Shot To Death In Florida – 21 December 2014

A suspect has been taken into custody after allegedly fatally shooting a police officer in Tarpon Springs, Florida. The incident comes after a gunman killed two officers in New York City after issuing threats against law enforcement.

The shooting occurred early Sunday morning near the coastal town’s Sponge Docks, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and Tarpon Springs Police Department are investigating the incident.

Authorities have confirmed that both the victim and the suspect were male, but have not yet released any more information. A police news conference is planned for Sunday.

Residents of the Chagos Islands who were kicked out of their homes in the 1960s by the British government to make way for a US military base fear they may never return home, despite politicians’ promises, RT’s Polly Boiko reports.

“You have to go back where you belong. That’s me, as a Chagossian,” says Bernard Nourrice, a former resident of Diego Garcia, one of the Chagos Islands, now a closed US military base.

Diego Garcia has recently made headlines after the CIA torture report revealed the US used the so-called “black sites” based in other countries for detention. Though the report did not mention the names of the locations, it’s been alleged Diego Garcia could be one such site.

NY Cops Shooter Was Almost Tracked After Posting Threats To Avenge Brown And Garner – 21 December 2014

The gunman who killed two police officers in New York before turning his gun on himself posted assassination threats on Instagram several hours before the killings. The man’s phone was traced by police just minutes before the tragedy.

Ismaaiyl Brinsley, a 28-year-old Afro-American, who was identified as the shooter by police, posted a picture of an automatic pistol and threatening messages on Instagram. They bore hashtags with the names of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, who were killed by police officers who were themselves later acquitted, sparking mass protests against police brutality across the US.

“I’m Putting Wings on Pigs Today,” Brinsley wrote. “They Take 1 Of Ours … Let’s Take 2 of Theirs.”

The American Petroleum Institute said last week the U.S. oil and natural gas sector was an engine driving job growth. Eight percent of the U.S. economy is supported by the energy sector, the industry’s lobbying group said, up from the 7.7 percent recorded the last time the API examined the issue. The employment assessment came as the Energy Department said oil and gas production continued to make gains across the board. With the right energy policies in place, API said the economy could grow even more. But with oil and gas production already at record levels, the narrative over the jobs prospects may be failing on its own accord…. The API’s report said each of the direct jobs in the oil and natural gas industry translated to 2.8 jobs in other sectors of the U.S. economy. That in turn translates to a total impact on U.S. gross domestic product of $1.2 trillion, the study found.
