UN Chief Urges ‘Flexibility’ In Jammed Iran Nuclear Talks – 21 November 2014

The United Nation’s Secretary-General has urged parties in P1+5 nuclear talks with Iran to be “flexible” as the deadline to settle a long-standing stalemate over Tehran’s atomic program may be missed without final resolution on Monday.

“The Secretary-General calls on all participants to demonstrate the necessary flexibility, wisdom and determination to bring the negotiations to a successful conclusion that meets the concerns and interests of all sides,” Ban’s press office said in a statement.

“He is convinced that such an accord can contribute to the strengthening of regional and international peace and security at a time when global cooperation is needed perhaps more than ever,” Ban said in order to “restore confidence in the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program.”

Anonymous: KKK Members May Have Infiltrated Ferguson Cop Support Group – 21 November 2014

Anonymous claims it has identified members of the Ku Klux Klan at a support group rally for police officer Darren Wilson, who shot and killed a black teen in Ferguson, Missouri. Following the expose, the support group removed the photograph from Facebook.

The latest move in its cyber battle against the Ku Klux Klan, the hacktivist group Anonymous claimed to identify three members of the Klan at a recent rally in support of Wilson. A grand jury is currently deliberating whether to hand down an indictment of Wilson in the shooting death of unarmed African American teenager Michael Brown, who was killed on August 9. That decision is expected any day.

Protesters Clash With Mexico City Riot Police Over Student Massacre – 21 November 2014

Mexican riot police have suppressed a violent student protest which tried to storm Mexico City’s airport. The crowd raged as part of a national strike over the alleged government involvement in the “disappearance” of 43 students almost two month ago.

Police engaged some 300 masked demonstrators who threw Molotov cocktails and shot fireworks at law enforcement lines outside the capital’s Benito Juárez international airport.

Citigroup Director’s Death Latest In String Of Suspected Banker Suicides – 21 November 2014

Citigroup managing director Shawn D. Miller was found dead in the bathtub of his New York City apartment, following what police suspect was a suicide in a year marked by suspicious banker deaths.

Miller, 42, was the global head of environmental and social risk management at New York-based Citigroup, America’s fourth largest bank.

Police believe Miller killed himself, Detective Martin Speechley, an NYPD spokesman, told Bloomberg News Wednesday. However, the official cause of death will remain a mystery until the autopsy report is concluded. Miller “was highly regarded at Citi and across the financial services industry as a leader and tireless advocate for environmental and sustainable business practices,” top managers at Citigroup wrote in a letter to staff in his department, Bloomberg reported.

“He will be greatly missed by all who knew him,” the letter said.

Where Has All Ukraine’s Gold Gone? – 21 November 2014

Ukraine’s Central Bank chief has divulged some shocking intel: its gold stockpile has reached a new nadir – almost zero. Since the beginning of the year, gold reserves have dropped nearly 16-fold, which begs the question, where did all of it go?

“Official statistics of the National Bank show that the amount of gold in the vaults drastically fell, and it is unclear where it went. At the beginning of this month, the volume of gold was about $1 billion, or 8 percent of the total gold reserves,” the head of Ukraine’s National Bank, Valeria Gontareva, said in an interview with Ukraine’s Kharkiv TV.

As of November 1, the latest available data, foreign currency reserves stood at $12.6 billion, which puts Ukraine’s national gold stockpile at just $123.6 million, ZeroHedge reported.

The head of the National Security Agency warned Congress on Thursday that China and “one or two” other nations currently possess the capability of crippling the American power grid through cyberattacks.

Speaking before the House intelligence committee Thursday morning, Adm. Michael Rogers — the top official at both the NSA and United States Cyber Command — said that major systems, like the infrastructure that provides power to houses and facilities across the country, could be taken offline by state-sponsored hackers from abroad.

Certain nations are regularly performing electronic “reconnaissance,” Rogers warned, in an effort to be well placed within utility systems in the event that the networks relied on by chemical facilities, water treatment plants and other critical infrastructure components are ordered to be taken offline by a foreign government.
