Flood Wall Street Takes Over NYC’s Business District – 22 September 2014

Just one day after more than 300,000 people took part in the world’s largest climate-related protest, thousands of more rebellious activists risked arrest to shut down part of New York City’s financial district to demand action against global warming.

United under the “Flood Wall Street” banner, some 2,000 demonstrators streamed into New York’s financial district Monday afternoon and promptly sat down in the streets. The sit-in, which organizers say is aimed at confronting “corporate polluters and those profiting from the fossil fuel industry,” completely shut down traffic in the area.

Activists, many of whom took part in the Occupy Wall Street protests three years ago, did not have a permit for the demonstration from the New York Police Department, meaning they risked arrest for participating. National Lawyers Guild members sprinkled through the crowd handed out legal advice to those at the scene, and several people have already been arrested.

I’ve been so busy doing very Mabon-like things — harvesting, drying, canning, freezing, making sun tea, and cooking a vegan mung bean stew in the SunOven. So busy, in fact, that even though I scheduled today off for myself, this is the first chance I’ve had to sit down long enough to write a blog post. It’s a short one at that. Happy Equinox everyone!!  Happy Spring/Fall.  Ohh hell, just be Happy!!  The extraordinary (that’s us) has just been reconfigured to extra-extraordinary!!

Thru the information field of my first reading yesterday, her team had said that when we go to sleep last night, we will be configured to the new magnetic frequency that unleashes itself today, thru the energy field we know as the equinox.  Well, she wasn’t kidding.  Somewhere in the middle of the night, I became semi-awake and could feel and hazily see my team messing around with my crown energy.  I was still to heavily in my sleep to really get involved in asking anything, but awake enough to remember that something was done.  It is only this morning do I realize it was the plug-in and whatever else happens with it, into the new.

EPA Does Not Have To Address Call To Mandate Labeling Of Hazardous Pesticide Ingredients – Judge – 22 September 2014

The US Environmental Protection Agency does not need to face claims that it should require the labeling of potentially hazardous inert ingredients in pesticides, a federal judge has ruled. The agency dodged dissenting pro-health groups for eight years.

The agency was petitioned in 2006 to consider mandatory disclosure of hundreds of hazardous and non-hazardous ingredients. The EPA already requires pesticide manufacturers to list active ingredients on a product’s label, but inert ingredients can be withheld.

The Center for Environmental Health and Californians for Pesticide Reformpetitioned the EPA to devise a plan to require labeling 374 inert chemicals on pesticide products that “have been determined to be hazardous under other environmental laws and regulated as such by the EPA,” according to the 2006 complaint.

Ground Troops To Iraq? Blair ‘Last Person To Consult On Invading Iraq’, Say Activists – 22 September 2014

Stop the War activists say Tony Blair is the ‘last person to consult on invading Iraq’ after the former prime minister called for sending troops to Iraq and possibly Syria. He said airstrikes alone will not be enough to defeat the Islamic State.

The former prime minister’s essay, posted on his Faith Foundation website, comes ahead of the UN general assembly meeting in New York, where serving Prime Minister David Cameron will discuss the UK’s engagement in an allied response to the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS).

Reacting to Blair’s comments, the Stop the War Coalition, which organized opposition to the 2003 invasion, said the former Labour leader “is the last person anyone should consult about invading Iraq.”

British Manufacturers Urge UK Politicians To Commit To EU Membership – 22 September 2014

A group of UK manufacturing companies have called upon the British political establishment to commit to ensuring Britain remains a member of the EU. A failure to do so could hinder UK investment and wealth creation, pro EU advocates claim.

The EEF, the members of which account for 25 percent of UK manufacturers, issued the plea in a manifesto published on Monday. The document identified a number of policy areas that require persistent focus if Britain’s economy and manufacturing sector are to reach their full potential.

In its manifesto, the EEF argued Britain’s national interest would be “best served” if it were to remain an integral part of a reformed European Union, which was focused on trade, further expansion of the free market and a dedicated effort to improve economic growth and employment opportunities for each of the member states.
