RT logoFor Switzerland to copy and paste EU sanctions against Moscow is unwise, and would jeopardize the country’s role as a mediator, said Swiss Economy Minister Johann Schneider-Ammann.

NaturalNews – J.D. Heyes – Water Costs Skyrocket 1,000% Where Half The Nation’s Fruits, Vegetables And Nuts Are Grown – 4 August 2014

NaturalNewss Logo-April-2014(NaturalNews) It is not as if there aren’t any economic factors influencing the price of groceries these days. Transportation alone, thanks to skyrocketing fuel prices, has lifted the cost of everything we buy at the grocery store. Now, one of the worst droughts in U.S. history is making the one thing absolutely vital for food production — an ample water supply — more expensive as well, and that, ultimately, will translate into even higher prices at the market.

To set the stage, back in February the U.S. Bureau or Reclamation released its first outlook of the year, in which the agency found insufficient water stocks in California to release to farmers for irrigation. (NaturalNewss Logo-April-2014NaturalNews) A Superior Court judge has told the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA), whose members are responsible for defeating efforts in California, Washington State, and elsewhere to label genetically modified organisms (GMOs), to buzz off after the shady organization tried to weasel its way out of a lawsuit filed against it for breaking the law.

Attorney General Bob Ferguson brought a legal challenge against the GMA in 2013 on behalf of the State of Washington, alleging that the group broke the state’s campaign finance disclosure laws in opposing I-522, the GMO labeling bill that failed to pass by a mere 1 percent margin. The GMA, states the suit, sidestepped disclosure laws by concealing the identities of its donors, many of whom also contributed heavily to the defeat of Proposition 37 in California. By this morning, the sum had reached €6.6b, and good bank v bad bank had been applied. Before long, no doubt, the usual measure applied to these matters will double that number, and wipe out the equity. Then we can start wondering how the bailin will operate. Continue reading

ZeroHedge – G-20 Revolt? France Gets “Positive Reception” To Challenge US Bank Fines – 4 August 2014

ZeroHedgeIn recent weeks France has defied US demands not to build Mistrals for Russia, has questioned dollar imperialism and the Petrodollar, and has blasted the US banking regulator’s fines as “accelerating the decline of the dollar.” So it is likely not a huge surprise that ahead of the G-20 meeting of world leaders later in the year, The FT reports, France has gathered support to challenge US regulators imposing heavy penalties on foreign banks. Berlin, London and Rome have backed Paris in its push to have its concerns about so-called US extraterritoriality discussed when leaders of the world’s top 20 economies meet hoping to bring “more proportionality” to bank fines.
