The New Cold War: Libya, Syria, And The Ukraine – 8 May 2014

Syria’s not-so-civil war has been going strong for more than three years now and recently the news agency Reuters reported that “[a]t least 150,000 people have been killed” in that time span.

The figure cited by Reuters is based on data provided by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. In spite of the fact that this source has been popping up all over the news media throughout the past three years, in the process receiving a veneer of academic impartiality and respectability, Reuters’ Mohammed Abbas disclosed at the end of 2011, that the organization is basically run by one man, Rami Abdulrahman, from his “two bedroom terraced home in Coventry”. Abbas describes Abdulrahman as “a Sunni Muslim” opposed to the Assad regime in Damascus. In fact, Abdulrahman explained his position in the following terms: “I came to Britain the day Hafez al-Assad died, and I’ll return when Bashar al-Assad goes”. Hence, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights can hardly be seen as an impartial source providing accurate data. Instead, it appears it is a propaganda outfit frantically feeding anti-Assad messages into the global news stream.

RT logoKiev’s reaction has jeopardized the OSCE’s efforts to start an inclusive national dialogue in Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has expressed “deep concern” at Kiev’s official reaction to proposals on resolving the Ukrainian crisis reached by President Putin and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Swiss President Didier Burkhalter during negotiations in Moscow on Wednesday.

“Reaction to the results of the Putin-Burkhalter meeting is a matter of deep concern as it effectively puts into question the prospects of the OSCE’s efforts to launch an inclusive national dialogue,” Lavrov said in a phone call with his German counterpart, Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

‘Main Point Of Putin’s Proposal Is To Avoid A New Confrontation Over Ukraine’ – 8 May 2014

RT logoDownload video (33.53 MB)

There is support in Europe and Russia to avoid further confrontation over Ukraine, and the Russian president’s road map for the Ukrainian crisis has the same goal, Lawrence Freeman from Executive Intelligence Review Magazine told RT.

RT: The Russian President Putin asked the south-eastern regions of Ukraine to postpone the planned autonomy referendum which would take place on May 11. If the autonomy vote does get delayed, is that a sign of a potential diplomatic way forward to resolve the conflict?

Lawrence Freeman: I think President Putin is actually strategically handling the situation quite well because he knows that there are people who would like to see this conflict escalate into a major war. So he is outmaneuvering the people behind this, people around the British Empire crowd and financial crowd, and he is doing a good job of it. So this proposal by him is a way of a game avoiding a new confrontation with people that would like to have it with Russia.

RT: The US State Department still doesn’t think Russia is doing enough. What else do they expect Moscow to do?

Wes Annac – Enlightenment Really Is The Purpose Of Life – 8 May 2014

Lately, I’ve been going out of my way to look for things that’ll light the fire within – that’ll motivate and inspire me to work with as much passion as possible.

I obviously enjoy this work, and I’ve been developing it with each article I write and each communication with my higher self and guides, but inspiration runs dry every now and then and this leaves me with the feeling that I’m not acting on my purpose; my reason for being on this planet at this important juncture in its evolution.
