NaturalNews – Mike Adams – 3D Printer Update: Lulzbot, FlashForge, Colorfabb Filament, T-Glase And More – 5 January 2015

NaturalNewss Logo-April-2014(NaturalNews) I spent most of the holiday working on 3D printer designs and calibrations, and I’ve learned a tremendous amount that I’d like to share with you. This is all very practical information you’ll need to have for the upcoming launch of www.FoodRising.org where I’ll be posting open source downloadable 3D printer files that you can print on your own 3D printer.

The biggest realization so far is that the Lulzbot TAZ 4 printer is not working with the filaments needed to produce these functional, water-tight objects. This is a disappointment because I love the Lulzbot company’s open source philosophy and overall sense of innovation and optimism. I’m optimistic that their new Lulzbot Mini — coming out in February — will overcome the filament feed problems I’ve experienced with the TAZ 4, and I will of course purchase one of the Minis and review it as soon as possible. LAPD Body Camera Footage Won’t Be Released To The Public – 23 December 2014

RT logoAs the Los Angeles Police Department prepares to outfit its force with body cameras during interactions with the public, civil rights groups are concerned over the idea that footage won’t be made public outside of court proceedings.

Body cameras are being touted as one way to increase accountability by recording police interaction with the residents, but questions are looming about what happens to the recorded footage and who controls the material. LAPD Police Chief Charlie Beck recently said the footage would not be released to the public and would be available only through criminal and civil court proceedings, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Critics, like the American Civil Liberties Union, argue if this happens it will ensure zero accountability once 7,000 body cameras are deployed and officers know that footage won’t be seen unless it’s showing their side of the story (in criminal cases) or working against them in civil suits. That’s especially the case considering how many civil suits are filed, how often settlements are paid and how often officers are granted a minimum partial immunity in civil cases, the ACLU said.

How Much Tax Money Gets Paid To EU? Europeans Don’t Know, RT Poll Reveals – 1 November 2014

RT logoMost Europeans have no idea how much they pay the EU in taxes and are unable to correctly place Baroness Catherine Ashton within the bureaucratic system, a poll performed by RT in 10 European capitals has revealed.

RT correspondents interviewed nearly 200 people on the streets of Barcelona, Lisbon, Rome, Prague, Paris, Bratislava, Warsaw, Athens, London, and Berlin.

Those surveyed were asked to answer four questions about the European Union in which they live – including the whereabouts of the European Commission’s home, its top officials, and the contribution made by their country to the bloc’s budget.

The first question – Where is the European Commission headquarters located? – was the easiest and caused few problems to the respondents.

Journalists Under Attack, Hypocritical Western Media Remains Silent – 24 October 2014

RT logoEric Draitser is an independent geopolitical analyst based in New York City and the founder of StopImperialism.com.

The suspicious death of US-born journalist Serena Shim, and the deafening silence on the story in the US, is merely the latest example of the blatant double standard employed by the Western media.

Shim, a 29 year old American journalist of Lebanese descent, had been covering the ongoing war in Syria, specifically the current battle between ISIS militants and Kurdish forces near the Syrian town of Kobani, from the Turkish-Syrian border. Shim was traveling in a rental car back to her hotel after reporting from the Turkish town of Suruc near the Syrian border, when the car was allegedly struck by a heavy vehicle, killing Shim.

Steve Lendman – Mass Surveillance Destroys Freedom – 15 October 2014

StevelendmanIt’s longstanding. It’s institutionalized. It’s lawless. It has nothing to do with domestic or foreign threats. Or anything related to national security.
America’s only enemies are ones it invents. It spies globally. It watches everyone. It monitors allies. It’s for control.
It’s for economic advantage. It’s to be one up on foreign competitors. It’s for information used advantageously in trade, political, and military relations.
Don’t expect Washington’s criminal class to explain. It’s bipartisan. It’s government of, by, and for special interests. Ordinary ones are ignored..

Putin: Russia Won’t Limit Access To Internet – 1 October 2014

RT logoAt a meeting with Russia’s Security Council, President Vladimir Putin has said the problem of the country’s ‘informational space’ security is of top priority, but assured the state has no intentions of limiting access to the web.

We do not intend to limit access to the web, put it under total control, make the internet more governmentalized. We will not limit legal interests and possibilities of people, non-governmental organizations and businesses in the informational sphere,” Putin said at the meeting on Wednesday.

He added that such “unreasonable” and “total” restrictions contradict the basic principles of democracy, including the freedom of press and civil rights of access to and distribution of information. He said the state was “not even considering” such measures.
