Fourteen years ago, I began to work with a metaphor: Merlin the magician, from the great myth of Arthur and the Knights of the Roundtable.
I wrote a few pages of notes. My preliminary picture of Merlin began to change.
I recorded several hours of ideas about Merlin. He changed again.
The metaphor began to take on historical implications, as if I were composing a novel set in a parallel universe. That universe then became a slice of “astral” time inserted into Earth’s late Medieval period. Continue reading
