Underground explosion shakes downtown New York just after Super Bowl

NEW YORK (INTELLIHUB) — Manhattan residents were reporting a loud explosion that shook the ground and could be heard from blocks away.  Luckily, no deaths or injuries have been reported so far.

The first reports of the explosion occurred somewhere between 10pm and 11pm late Sunday night, just following the Super Bowl, which brought many tourists to the city for the weekend.

New York ‘Occupy’ Protesters Arrested on Bridge Appear in Court – 15 November 2011

Nov. 15 (Bloomberg) — Hundreds of Occupy Wall Street protesters arrested last month during a demonstration on New York’s Brooklyn Bridge are scheduled to start appearing in court today to face disorderly conduct charges.

More than 900 people have been charged in connection with the protests since they began in lower Manhattan on Sept. 17, including about 700 arrested during the Oct. 1 bridge demonstration, according to the New York City Police Department.
