FEMEN Runs Wild In Paris, As Police Struggle To Catch Them – 28 October 2014

RT logoTopless feminist group FEMEN was at it again, and is beginning to prove too athletic for some cops to catch.

The video shows the half-naked ladies running away from the police, and dodging the law enforcers like skillful footballers. For some time, the police’s attempts to catch the fleeing ladies failed.

At one point there is a slapstick moment where an officer trips over and slams into a building while chasing the flock of bare-chested females.

China’s Rail Giants May Form $26Bn Conglomerate – 28 October 2014

RT logoThe two largest Chinese state-owned train makers CSR Corp and China CNR Corp are reportedly in merger talks that would create a new mega-company to compete in overseas markets with German, Canadian, and Japanese locomotive makers.

Details of the merger remain unclear, but a draft plan is in the works, both Bloomberg and Chinese media report, citing government officials. Together, the two companies have a market value of $26 billion.

A “major” announcement is expected within a week.

The merger would be aimed at reducing overseas competition between the two companies, which in turn should help them win more contracts and fulfill China’s hungry appetite to export transport hardware.

John Ward – LLOYDS Pass Stress Test But Get 0/10 For Ethics In £11Bn Insurance Scam…. – 28 October 2014

JohnW….as further holes appear in euro stress test

(Left: after a hard day spent defending the honour of Mme Néolibertine, Romeo Dragula collapses onto her bed, exhausted)

I suppose passing a stress test wouldn’t be that difficult if £11bn of your assets were the result of fraudulent insurance selling. But that’s what has been revealed as the bill Lloyds Bank now has to pay….so you’d think in that case, passing any stress test would be very hard indeed. Continue reading

Mexico’s Missing Students: New Mass Grave Uncovered – 28 October 2014

RT logoA new mass grave was uncovered in the same Mexican state as the one found after the September 26 disappearance of 43 students at a protest. The police were led to the site by four arrested gang members.

The news of a suspected fresh grave was shared with local press by a police official not authorized to share details of the new find.

Although Attorney General Jesus Murillo Karam announced Monday’s arrests at a press conference, news of the fresh mass grave hadn’t been made official.

Those arrested are thought to belong to the Guerreros Unidos – the gang connected to the initial disappearances and believed to have ties with the highest echelons of the police force.

An AP photographer and his Swiss colleague were hurt after Israeli border police fired a crowd control grenade at a group of journalists covering Palestinian protests in the West Bank.

The news agency’s Majdi Mohammed and Swiss freelance journalist Lazar Simeonov were injured during the Israeli forces’ suppression of protests, where they deployed rubber-coated bullets, stun grenades and tear gas.

The photographers were working in the West Bank town of Silwad, where Palestinians were protesting after the funeral of a 14-year-old boy, who was killed in an earlier clash with Israeli soldiers.

Mohammed told the Agency that as he was taking pictures, an armored car pulled up behind him and a border policeman stepped out and fired directly at him from a distance of 10 to 20 meters.

StevelendmanOn October 24, he spoke at the Valdai International Discussion Club’s (VIDC) 11th session. Dozens of experts, historians and political analysts from 25 countries attended.
Factors eroding current institutions and norms of international law were discussed. Ones affecting global political and economic conditions.
Putin spoke directly and frankly. Unambiguously. Like he always does. Saying what needs to be heard. Polar opposite his Western counterparts.
Try imagining US politicians matching his straight talk comments. Important ones without equivocation. Telling it like it is. Doing so because it matters.

Mish / Mike Shedlock – Central Banks And The Business Cycle – 28 October 2014

MishMikeShedlockI like it when someone besides a few financial bloggers takes the gloves off and starts asking some hard-hitting questions.

In Cross Asset Research last week, Albert Edwards at Societe General did just that. Emphasis in italics is mine.Fragile and vulnerable in itself, the US recovery now battles against the rest of the world, which like a horror movie is dragging it down into a hellish Ice Age underworld. The problem is that at these stratospheric valuations, the market does not need to suffer an ACTUAL recession to see a crash. Like October 1987, just the fear of recession will be enough to trigger a massive market move. Continue reading

Swedish Prosecutors Keep Up Arrest Warrant Aainst Assange – 28 October 2014

RT logoDownload video (19.27 MB)

The chances that WikiLeaks’ co-founder Julian Assange might have had his legal battle with Sweden ended on Monday appear to have faded away, as the court is unwilling to drop the arrest warrant over sexual assault allegations.

The Swedish court was due to announce an official ruling on Assange’s appeal to drop his arrest warrant. It was issued after he failed to meet the Monday deadline to come to Sweden for questioning over rape accusations. While no news on the decision immediately emerged, the Chief Prosecutor’s Office told RT that its position hasn’t changed.

In response to Assange’s appeal earlier in September, the prosecution argued that “the purpose behind the remand into custody of Julian Assange in his absence is to prevent Julian Assange from absconding or avoiding criminal proceedings or punishments for named crimes.”
