FINLAND, Minn. – May 30 – The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) today asked its million-plus members to call on Congress to reject efforts by the meat industry to weaken protections for farmers.

US Deploys Two Advanced Military Drones In Japanese Airbase – 30 May 2014

The US Air Force has deployed two of its most advanced military Global Hawk drones in their base in northern Japan. The purpose of unmanned vehicles is closely-guarded secret but their characteristics make them capable of spying on China and North Korea.

US Global Hawk drones will remain on the Misawa Air Base, located some 590 kilometers northeast of Tokyo until October, when the typhoon season at the drones’ home, Andersen Air Force Base, on the island of Guam in the western Pacific is over, commander of US Forces Japan, Lieutenant General Sam Angelella, told AP.

‘Right To Be Forgotten’: Google Launches Form To Allow Users Delete Their ‘Inadequate’ Data – 30 May 2014

Google has opened a service for European users to request deletion of their data from search engines if they consider their content irrelevant or outdated, a move that followed the ruling of the European court calling for the “right to be forgotten.”

“Certain users can ask search engines to remove results for queries that include their name where those results are inadequate, irrelevant or no longer relevant, or excessive in relation to the purposes for which they were processed,” says the form on a Web page that Google opened late on Thursday for European users.

Scientists Find Coronavirus Inhibitor Blocking MERS And SARS – 30 May 2014

A team of European scientists say they have discovered a compound that can prevent the spreading of coronaviruses, responsible for the SARS and MERS outbreaks that have killed about 1,000 people worldwide.

A team of scientists led by Edward Trybala from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, and Volker Thiel from the University of Bern have discovered a compound they call ‘K22,’ which appears to block the ability of the virus to spread among humans.

The discovery was published in the scientific journal “PLOS Pathogens.”

Coronaviruses affect the upper and lower respiratory system in humans and are responsible for causing up to one-third of common colds.
