Duma Passes Bill Criminalizing Rehabilitation Of Nazism – 23 April 2014

RT logoThe Russian Lower House has approved a bill that provides up to five years in prison for denying the facts set out in the Nuremberg Trial, rehabilitation of Nazism and distributing false information about the actions of Russia and its allies during WWII.

The bill has been drafted by a group of MPs representing various parliamentary caucuses but its main sponsor was the head of the Lower House committee for security and countering corruption Irina Yarovaya (United Russia).

Yarovaya told the press that the push for such a law is especially evident today in times of the violent political crisis in Ukraine, launched and supported by radicals and neo-Nazis. “Ukraine is a living witness of what can be the result of such a policy, when Nazism is standing tall and manifests itself not only through propaganda but through actual crimes,” the lawmaker said.

Obama Pledges Support To Japan In China Dispute – 23 April 2014

RT logoUS President Barack Obama is set to throw his support behind Japan in its territorial dispute over a group of islands with China, citing a treaty between the two countries, which would lead Washington to intervene military if Beijing attacked.

The tiny islands in the East China Sea have been a source of tension between the two Asian nations. But Obama says they are covered by a bilateral security treaty that would oblige the US to come to Japan’s defense if China decided to take the islands by force.

“The policy of the United States is clear – the Senkaku islands are administered by Japan and therefore fall within the scope of … the U.S.-Japan Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security,” Obama said, using the Japanese name for the islands that are known as the Diaoyu in China.

US Navy Cancels Charity Projects In Crimea – 23 April 2014

RT logoThe US Navy has discontinued charity programs in Crimea, canceling the renovation of a public school and children’s hospital. Russian media and bloggers suspect the programs were meant to butter up locals for a possible US settlement there.

Until quite recently the US military has been allocating American taxpayers’ money to reconstruction of public offices on the Crimea Peninsula, while it was still autonomous within Ukraine.

Back in September 2013, the US Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) published a solicitation (drafted in June) on Federal Business Opportunities website (Solicitation Number: N33191-13-R-1240) to renovate School #5 in Sevastopol.

FBI ‘Intentionally And Unlawfully’ Used No Fly List To Recruit Muslims As Informers – 23 April 2014

RT logoThe FBI used a no-fly list to recruit four US Muslims as informants, violating their constitutional rights to freedom of speech, association and religion. That’s the claim being made by four US Muslims in a New York federal court Tuesday.

Muhammad Tanvir, Jameel Algibhah, Naveed Shinwari and Awais Sajjad, who are between them either US residents or permanent US residents, are demanding that the FBI remove them from the no-fly list which contains the names of people who are not permitted to board a commercial aircraft for travel in or out of the United States, according to threat and intelligence reporting.

“This impermissible abuse of the No Fly List has forced Plaintiffs to choose between their constitutionally-protected right to travel, on the one hand, and their First Amendment rights on the other,” says the lawsuit.\
